Extension Activities:
The learning opportunities are endless with Bounce Back! Bounce Back encourages you to extend your learning through some of the following activities:
SESE & Visual Arts:
- Design and make a sustainable business (in pairs/groups). Consider what you could be reuse through recycling and how you would achieve it.
- Build a physical or digital model factory to show your business in action.
- Create a recycling campaign for your school. Conduct a survey to learn from the other classrooms what they know about recycling and reusing. Interview the principal and find out how many recycling bins the school has, and where the recycling in your area goes.
- Create posters to show why recycling is useful/show examples of how materials can be reused and put them up around the school.
Reading and Writing
Learn and read all about the important environmental work of Michael McDonagh.
Extension Activities:
Bounce Back encourages you to extend your learning through some of the following activities:
Visual Arts:
- Create your own mattress! What can you find in the classroom or from recycled school lunch packaging to create a mini mattress?
- Design a new vehicle for Bounce Back (individually/in pairs/in small groups). Present your vehicle to the class and discuss why it would be useful to have.
English:
- Use your dictionary to find the definitions for the following words in the text: approximately, colleague, tonne.
Science/ICT:
- Research online how a mattress can become a horse blanket. What else might be made from a recycled mattress.
